Google Collections as an SEO tool

Online marketing is a very complicated affair and has many separate components that need to work together as a team for any degree of success. We have those who require information on one side, those who are offering information on the other and search engines in the middle,  connecting those who are looking for information with those who are displaying information (marketing).

Those who are looking (searchers) are our intended target market audience, and they create *SEARCH QUERIES*

Those who are displaying (marketing / advertising),   use *KEYWORDS* as their primary tool to influence search engines.

The search engines use many different tactics and a host of algorithms to mathematically calculate which online content is the best possible match  for each search query, and display their findings in a SERP or Search Engine Results Page for the person searching to select the page that best matches his / her intentions from the list of pages displayed in the SERP

Before Google hummingbird stepped into the picture all search engines used to rely on keywords and inbound links as the two primary SEOVI or Search Engine Optimisation Value Indicators The Google Hummingbird algorithm turned search upside down and inside out, as keywords and links were suddenly demoted to being an awful lot less relevant than they were, with a host of new SEOVI or Search Engine Optimisation Value Indicators that suddenly came into existence within the social media space. These new Search Engine Optimisation Value Indicators became more important than keywords or inbound links due to their vast numbers of different individual search engine optimisation value indicators that were not directly within the online content, but added value in some way or another to the Search engine optimisation Value Indicators associated with the  online content in question.

Here we are talking about many things and the list here is only a very small subset of  the vast number of Search Engine Optimisation Value Indicators  (SEOVI's) that are considered and factored into the host of  SEA's (Search Engine Algorithms) that perform a large number of  different operations, storing many intermediate variables for each individual piece of online content, within their *LARGE DATA SETS* that are used by subsequent SEA's and finally by the SEA that actually assembles the SERP
  • author values
  • publisher values
  • social re-actions
  • page rank of social posts
  • out bound link values within social media posts
  • semantic foot prints of authors and publishers
  • Semantic footprints of those who interact with the posts in question
  • content matching as in keywords and associated semantic linkages between post and online content in question
  • network positions and nodes that connect the different digital identities to each other through SEMANTIC linkages
  • context matching between social media posts and online content in question
  • intent of social media post, and the ability to connect that intent to the page in question
  • the actual intent of the search query
  • is the searcher logged into Google or not
  • any previous searches made from the same device
  • any previous searches made by the individual searcher if logged in
  •  context of  online resource housing the content in question.
The above list is a very small subset of all the issues at stake, and the new *GOOGLE COLLECTIONS* gives us as marketers a new tool to add an extra set of SEOVI,  that have a very strong *SEMANTIC INFLUENCE*  and will add a very large *#STFSEOVI  (Semantic Trust Factor Search Engine Optimisation Value Indicators)*  contingent to each identified digital entity that is directly referenced within  any out bound link in any one of the posts contained within any individual *GOOGLE COLLECTION* created by and *INDIVIDUAL DIGITAL ENTITY* be that digital entity a person, a Google plus business page, or any other Google plus profile that has the ability to make use of Google Collections.

Those who understand the *IMPACTS OF GOOGLE HUMMINGBIRD* and have taken the time to implement authorship and publisher issues within their online content through the recommended HTML methods of *REL = AUTHOR* as well as *REL = PUBLISHER* will score immensely from this new Google plus option of *GOOGLE COLLECTIONS*

Making use of Google  Collections in a well managed and properly structured #FUFISM based marketing strategy,  will improve the STFSEOVI or Semantic Trust Factor Search Engine Optimisation Value Indicators of every single digital entity referenced within each and every out bound link within  any post within each specific Google Plus Collection.

These new SEOVI or Search Engine Optimisation Value Indicators as associated with Google collections will not make or break your online  marketing  efforts, but are just one new piece to the semantic puzzle that constitutes your online marketing.  It is thus of extreme importance that you manage your Google Collections properly and ensure that *each post within your specific Google Collection*  is on topic and relevant to the collection as a whole.  *OFF TOPIC POSTS* will dilute the power of your Google Collection to influence your SERP's .

Google plus engaement issues from a #FUFISM perspective

Google plus is a great platform for a variety of reasons, with the primary one being that you will have a foot in the door as far as Google Search is concerned.  Google has many indexing issues with other social media platforms, and the walled garden effect is often very serious, with all non public posts being excluded from Google's sphere of influence.

Getting traction within any specific market is an ongoing issue that needs due diligence and proper interpretation of your target market audience, and when using the social media you need to ensure that those who follow you, or are within your social network form part of your target market audience. This means that you need to do true, in-depth target market research, and have a very clear understanding of who your target audience is and how you are going to interact with them in a manner that allows you to place your call to action statements. Google plus has specific options for you to do this via specialist business pages that are directly linked to your personal profile and associated page.

You do need to separate your personal life from your business life when doing any social media marketing. Failure to do this will lead to poor branding and mixed signals to your target audience.  You personal profile should be used as a platform to brand yourself as an ambassador for your business and community related pages within all social media platforms, and you should never be salesy or pushy within your personal profile page.  This sounds very easy, but is infact a really difficult thing to do.

You personal profile page describes you as an individual, and is where your personality and industry specific knowledge will shine through and allow others to interact and engage with you on a personal level.  once you have a personal connection then you may, if appropriate, lead this person down the conversion path to become a client, customer or fellow activist in your cause.

You should have a business page in place,  where you do business related stuff and push you business opportunities through links to your web site, your blog and other online resources.  You should also have a community page in place where your business issues are discussed in depth and you mange various sectors of your business opportunities, through different categories within the community,  informing those who have taken the time to join your community of your services, products, events and other areas of interest.

As an individual you should also be a member of  various communities that have links to your business model, your products, your services or the events that you handle. This is industry specific, and you will need to choose these after studying your intended target audience and their social media habits, so that you can lead them to your business page or your community without being pushy or obnoxious in any way.

Your entire marketing team needs to be up to speed with he various platforms and different sections of each platform that you, as an individual are using, so that your personal and business profiles can be used to the best advantage to interact with your
target audience in the most appropriate manner.

Google Plus Author Rank Do you make use of this?

What do you think of this new SEO avenue that Google has put on the table?

Some say it is great some say it sucks and some say what ? I don't believe this exists.

In my humble opinion this is a wonderful avenue to add some SEO value to yourself as an author, and it works very well. My image shows up next my search results for a number of terms in a few different websites that I own, as well as for my blogs and some posts that I make in other blogs.

Search for "Frank Gainsford" in Google and see for yourself...

after watching the video please leave a comment for me to evaluate

This adds value to your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and improves your SERP's (Search Engine Results Page) big time. G+ or Google Plus is also a  great social media platform that is steadily growing in size and stature, which also adds many different SEOVI (Search Engine Optimisation Value Indicators) to your other online pages in strange ways that elevate them considerably in the SERP's when your reference them in your posts. My preliminary research on my own work shows that once you have established your Authorship credentials this is even more effective.

If you are following my previous posts and have an understanding of FUFISM then you will realise where this fits in with your Functional User Friendly Integrated social Media policies and how this can influence the rest of your marketing, and the impacts are quite impressive.

Please leave a comment discussing your views on Google authorship. I need this for some research. If you want to see the results of this research please say so in your comments.

Thanx again for visiting my blog.

The Power of Google Plus is growing, are you prepared?

There have been many rumors that SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is dead, some have even hinted that it is buried. I think that those who started these rumors are FaceBook Marketers who have had some success and achieved some business without using any other platform besides FaceBook.

In my opinion these marketers have just been lucky, and their success has gone to their heads. Those in the online marketing industry know the truth, your products and services will not be found easily online unless they are well placed in the SERP's (Search Engine Results Pages)

At the end of the day there are only three ways that your online information will be found by your intended target market
  1. They will type your address directly into the address bar of their browser because they were exposed to your marketing in other media such as  amongst others
    • TV advertising
    • Radio advertising
    • Newspaper and other print media advertising
    • billboards, flyers and other direct marketing
  2. They will click on a link found in
    • your online marketing
    • referral from a social media platform such as G+ or Facebook
    •  a web page referencing your work as an authority on your subject matter
    • a web site that has a link exchange program with your web site or blog
    • your paid advertising link in some body elses pages
  3. They will use a search engine to find your online information and click on your listing in a SERP (Search Engine Results Page)
Currently (Jan 2013) Google is the biggest search engine and has the lions share of all search querries, so you will need to be listed in the organic SERP's (Search Engine Results Pages) that Google provides to ensure that you get the best exposure within these SERP's

Now the trick is to understand how Google plus influences the SERP's (Search Engine Results Pages)  provided within the organic search results pages. This is where the power of G+ or Google Plus starts to shine and push any pages associated with your G+ profile closer to the top of the SERP's (Search Engine Results Pages) due to a host of different social signals that are associated with your G+ profile and the posts that you have made within all your associated G+ pages and related communities.

During my research I came across this post by Mark Traphagen on Wind mill Marketings web site

This post was very well written and extremely helpful in understanding the true power of Google Plus

At the end of the day G+ is Googles own Social media networking platform, and they have full unrestricted access to all data on the Google Plus platform, which gives them quite a bit of leverage to use the data in ways that enhance your search experience. Another point to take into consideration is that they (Google Search Engineers) know the structure of the data as well as the data layout which makes their use of this information simpler and more user friendly.

To understand this a bit better you may need to understand the term FUFISM
